SMS Terms & Conditions
EFFECTIVE: JANUARY 2025
1. Program Description
The Second Half SMS program sends occasional text-message reminders about important personal-finance deadlines covered in the newsletter — such as IRA contribution deadlines, Medicare enrollment windows, and required minimum distribution dates. The program is operated by The Second Half ("we", "us").
2. Opt-In
You must explicitly opt in to receive SMS messages by checking the SMS consent box on the subscribe form and providing a valid mobile number. Opting in is voluntary and is not required to subscribe to the newsletter.
3. Frequency
Messages are sent on an occasional basis — not weekly. Frequency depends on upcoming deadlines and typically does not exceed several messages per quarter.
4. Opt-Out
You may cancel SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. After you send STOP, we will send one final message confirming the cancellation. You will not receive any further SMS messages unless you re-subscribe.
5. Help
For help, reply HELP to any message, or email sms@readsecondhalf.com.
6. Costs
Message and data rates may apply. The Second Half does not charge for SMS messages, but your wireless carrier may charge for sending or receiving text messages depending on your plan.
7. Carriers
The SMS program is available on most major U.S. wireless carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
8. No Purchase Necessary
No purchase is necessary to participate in the SMS program. Participation is free of charge from The Second Half.
9. Privacy
Phone numbers and SMS consent are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
10. Compliance
This program is operated in compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA guidelines.
